FAQ

What is the Culture and Gastronomy Workshop?

The Culture and Gastronomy Workshop is a project that combines a fam trip and a workshop. It is attended by 60 European tour operators specialised in Cultural tourism and Gastronomy holidays.

The participating tour operators are all carefully selected and invited by Turisme de Catalunya through its tourism promotion centres (CPTs) in France, the United Kingdom and Ireland, Germany, Italy, the Nordic Countries, Benelux, Madrid and Eastern Europe. The aim is to maximise the professional interest of the workshop and obtain the highest possible yield from it.

What does it include?

Turisme de Catalunya encourages tour operators to participate in all the activities included in the event (fam trips, meals and the workshop) and to make use of the special transport and transfer arrangements and accommodation facilities.

What is the Culture and Gastronomy Workshop format?

The workshop is made up of two different parts:

  • FAM TRIP
From 5 to 6 May, Turisme de Catalunya has prepared several fam trips around Catalonia adapted to the different tourism products covered by the workshop.
Operators should choose the trip that most interests them when they register for the workshop.
  • BUSINESS CATALONIA
The workshop will take place on Thursday 7 May.
This event consists of a series of brief, personal professional meetings between individual tour operators from the different outbound markets and representatives of the Catalan tourism industry.
It will take place at the Girona Auditori from 9 am to 5 pm with a break for lunch from 1.30 pm to 3 pm. Lunch will be provided by Turisme de Catalunya.
The meeting agenda will be established on the website. First, participating tour operators will choose to meet a maximum of 18 and a minimum of 12 Catalan companies from among those registered for the workshop.
Following this, the Catalan companies will be able to choose which operators they wish to meet.
The meetings will last 15 minutes each, with 5 minutes for changeover.
The day will end with a farewell dinner provided by Turisme de Catalunya.

What is the schedule?

  • 4 May: Arrival and welcome cocktail party – Barcelona
  • 5 and 6 May: Discover Catalonia – Fam trip
  • 7 May: Business Catalonia – Workshop and farewell dinner
  • 8 May: Return to the city of origin

What are the registration dates?

  • Registration dates for the event: 1-15 April.
  • Confirmation of participation: 16 and 17 April via e-mail from Turisme de Catalunya.
  • Meeting agenda open for tour operators: 18-23 April.
  • Meeting agenda open for Catalan business people: 24-29 April. 24 April is reserved for members of Turisme de Catalunya’s Clubs, with preferential placements on the agenda.
  • Second chance: 30 May for any Catalan company affected by a last-minute cancellation from a tour operator.

How are the workshop meetings arranged?

The agenda of professional meetings for the workshop is first selected by the tour operators. Each operator must select a maximum of 18 and a minimum of 12 meetings with the Catalan companies. It will be their prerogative to choose the meetings and prepare the agenda of the day.

Once the period in which the operators establish their agendas is over, the Catalan business people will be able to arrange meetings with those operators who still have gaps in their agenda and who could be interested in what they have to offer.

Tour operators are committed to see all the companies with which a meeting has been arranged and to respect the agenda timetable.

What are the conditions of participation?

The participants will be carefully selected and invited by Turisme de Catalunya so as to maximise the interest and professionalism of the workshop.

Registration will not be considered final until participants have received express confirmation from Turisme de Catalunya. This confirmation will be sent on 16 and 17 April.

The participating tour operators will be required to adhere to the programme proposed by Turisme de Catalunya and participate in all the planned activities. This includes attending all the meetings arranged by the Catalan business people.

Only one participant will be accepted from each tour operator.

All of the participants in the workshop are required to cede their image rights to Turisme de Catalunya so that they can appear in any photographs, videos and audiovisual material that Turisme de Catalunya may produce about this event. This material will be used by Turisme de Catalunya for promotional and commercial reasons.

Turisme de Catalunya reserves the right to modify or cancel the event if necessary. The companies registered for the event will be notified in advance of any changes.

Participation in this workshop implies acceptance of the above conditions.
